Jesus,

I am learning how to sit with you in the mundane and the chaos, in the moments where life is quiet and simple. I get to sit with you while I read a book, a story of how much you love us and desire intimacy with us. I can feel the wind blowing through the room knowing you are so close. I can listen to music and learn of your goodness in something as simple as the lyrics. I can hear the song of your creation every morning that wakes me up ready for more of you. When I preserve the beauty of your flowers in my journal I see you in every placement and detail. I can sit with you in the silence knowing that you are sitting right there with me.

But I can also sit with you in the chaos. I can hear you through the laughter of my squadmates or the sun that beats down on us as we climb a volcano. I can feel you in the busy airports and the rising crowds and seek you out as my silence in the overwhelming moments. In the crowded room of 14 beds or the times when it feels hard to take a breath you are there holding me close. You’re never far and even when I can’t feel you, I have the honor of knowing that you are especially fond of me.

Love,

Delaney
