November 5th started as a normal day and ended in celebration. Madie, our lovely squad mentor came and led our devotional on baptism and announced that we would have an opportunity to be baptized in Lake Lanier. My immediate thought was that I’m not going to, I’ve been baptized three times, I just want to celebrate this new family of mine well. But God had some different plans.

As the day continued on more and more people decided to be baptized, we left in the afternoon for the lake. Fast forward... everyone that planned on getting baptized had gotten baptized, we had a song of worship and then Madie asked if there was anyone else. One of my squad mates, Wes decided to be baptized so as he was sharing why he decided to do it, he explained that he was recommitting his life to Christ. And immediately my heart started beating out of my chest. The Lord whispered, “that’s what your going to do and why you’re going to do it”.

I wanted to make sure I wasn’t acting out of emotion, but out of what my Father wanted for me. So my friend Jen prayed over me and I went to my team leader, Ellie, seeking some clarity. She prayed over me for a clear decision and boy did he give me a clear sign.

When I came out of the water, I left all the things I was dragging with me behind me. I decided to walk daily in the identity of who my God says I am. I decided to believe the truth that I am his daughter and I am worthy. I chose to surrender daily my wants to further his kingdom. I chose to walk in the cost of following Jesus. I died to myself so that I can walk in life with my good Father. There’s literally no turning back and I am okay with that.
